Just a random suggestion, although I know this is quite old, but they do sell makeup wedges at Wal-Mart, which you can use instead of the paintbrush. I actually bought that same make-up kit and used the sponges when I had to do a full face-paint for my Akamaru costume. Worked pretty well for me. :)
