This track is off of Jay Trainer Band's much-anticipated self-titled EP is the six-song precursor to the upcoming full-length offering, slated for fall 2011. The video was produced and directed by Frederic Poirot in San Francisco. Trainer's thick, prolific guitar riffs complements his stark lyricism, creating a striking juxtaposition that unites the album into a cohesive production. His honest portrayal of traditional funk, rock and blues create a provocative and intense experience. Drawing from vintage tones, Trainer transports us back to the classic blues and rock of the late 60s while at the same time crafting a sound that is modern, relevant and fresh.

"If the Jay Trainer Band's self-titled EP puts you in mind of the West coast psychedelic blues-rock explosion of the '60s, it's not just because you got a stray ...whiff of incense on the wind. For one thing, singer/guitarist Trainer makes his home in the Bay Area, from whence came the likes of Santana, the Grateful Dead, Big Brother & The Holding Company et al, and he bears the undeniable influence of those artists. For another, the six-song EP, recorded in San Francisco, boasts a band that includes veteran horn man Mic Gillette, who has performed with the likes of Santana and the Big Brother-esque Cold Blood, bringing some serious old-school flavor to the mix. As a guitarist, Trainer has truly soaked up the sounds of the psychedelic '60s, using generous amounts of fuzz and wah-wah in his tone and embarking on instrumental excursions that show a marked preference for the path less traveled. But he's adept at acoustic guitar as well, as he shows on ballad-oriented tunes like "Run" and the more low-key moments of the slowly building "Children (Of the Sun)." But don't think of Trainer as a backwards-looking artist retreating to the sounds of an earlier era, think of him as a proud torchbearer, carrying the legacy into the future."

  • This song is brilliant, as is the message of the animation short within the video.

  • Awesome man

  • Good Stuff! I love it!

  • Nice!

  • Sweet!

  • I was confused, I thought I was hearing Labi Siffre; I'd only heard his voice on one hooping video (using a remix of his "I Got the Blues") and the vocal sound was so similar in spots. Oops, different artist.

    This is beautiful.
