Drachen Fire was taken down because of the fact riders were getting hurt. The dimentions of the ride made for a rough ride your head was slamed in to the hard backs of the seats and it would hurt the hell out of your neck. A few people even suffered whiplash. It was a kool ride that just needed to be fixed and that was it.

Haha you make it sound so brutal. But yes, that was the basic point with taking it down, people were getting hurt and it lost popularity. They had used the station during Hallo-scream but I want to say two or three years ago (don't quote me) they even took that out!

It's sitll in the Busch Gardens family, it's just at Busch Gardens Africa now known as "Cheetah Chase"

Cheetah Chase is more of a family coaster at B.G. Tampa. Now they are building a new coaster called Cheetah Hunt. But it is nothing like Drachen Fire. It is supposed to be like a launch coaster. Max speed is about 65 mph.

WOW! 1993 is the year that I got to ride this roller coaster. It was just before my dad died. It was also the last time I have been to Busch Gardens in Va. This coaster was rough, but it was AWESOME! I believe we rode it about 10 times that day. We also rode Loch Ness about 10 times. LOL. I miss this ride. They need to bring it back. And to whomever it was that said that it was now the Cheetah Chase @ B.G. Tampa......I don't know where you got that info. I have passes there. And it ain't there.

@Razgriez1 I haven't been back to Busch Gardens Williamsburg since August 6, 2008. I went when it was called "Busch Gardens Europe". It would be a sad sight to see... I've only ridden roller coasters since May 10, 2007 and already some of my favorites have been torn down... Twisted Twins at SFKK and Big Bad Wolf come to mind.

Though I admit, I was there at the end of September, early October... God it's a sad sight to see nothing but the blocked off station and the old pylons on the "Rhine river" section of the park.. So far the only thing going up near it is a New Tower drop style ride which I think will be open... next year or 2012... not sure.

Redguy22 I remember that haha. I used to help operate this great ride! People that bitch about it too bumpy, no wonder we said "challenge your friends to take the heat!" To much heat for them!

I rode it at night a few times. I don't remember the stickers, but I do remember the red lights down the sides of the trains.
