"All i gotta say is that, working with american cartoons is a Bitch. I like how this came out, is not better than Legend of the Dark Knight, but it`s still nice. It`s basically clips of Superman the cartoon (Justice League) with some parts that you, if you`ve read the comicbook 'The Death of Superman' might have a better understanding."-Lusvell, my bro and partner at http://retrohelix.com :D

  • Did this actually make it into the TV show? Because I have the graphic novella, "World without a Superman"

And, Ironicly, Our Lady Peace came out with "Superman's Dead" a week after this first happened in the comics.

  • He was?

Shit I've really got to catch up on all this,

Back my good old comics shop first thing tomorrow.

  • I didn't know Wes had a sister, of course then again I didn't know Doomsday was Kryptonian until a few days ago.

  • I think as I remember it had poor Lois just about to have a nervous breakdown with Supermen popping out of the woodwork each claiming to be the real Superman, And I remember Jonathan Kent struggling to save his son's soul from leaving this earthly plain, I think death for a Kryptonian was supposed to be different somehow than death for a human, Maybe Sandman's sister got stumped or something?

    Heh thanks for the memories.

  • LOL I hear you, I'll always remember that first apperance of 'Steel' rising up from that rubble,

"Gotta save (find) (be) Superman!" however that quote went, And that bit when Superboy first came on the scene "DON'T CALL ME SUPERMAN!"

And that damn robot Superman, There was a really hilarious story IMHO in Cracked magazine that really sent up the whole DOS storyline in the 1990s that basically had Supes coming back from the dead as a zombie,

Mad also did a funny take on the whole thing.

  • I guess so, but I do admit that "Return of Superman" was a ludicrus story, and that whole, "You would hear...Laugher", bit with the metal superman and him, was taking the "strongest oppenent Superman had ever faced" bit alittle far. Do you relize how powerful they're saying he is in that cinario. *Busts through the Source Wall and kills every thing*

  • (Shrug) Sorry different strokes for different folks I guess,

    For me the whole

'Death Of Superman' story just left a bad taste in my mouth, The 1990s were for me at least when the speculator market went bust with gimmicks like TDOS story,

Batman's Back, The Spiderman Clone FUBAR storyline etc.

  • Well alright, I can compromise that Batman TAS was by far one of the best animated series of all time, but to me, in the comic, Doomsday was frighting. Plus in the comic when Superman tryed to throw Doomsday from the Atmosphere, he broke his grip and kicked him though the steel gurders of a building. I mean common, DAMN.

  • Now I wouldn't call the movie anywhere near as well written as say

the best of Timm and Dini's

'Batman The Animated Series' or even their Superman series, Plus it really makes no sense not to have The Justice League, But IMHO this film is a far less convoluted mess than that DOS comicbook.

  • Un-Huh, Whereas the comicbook overdid the whole story, Gave us about more extra Supermen than you could keep count of and never really gave us any sort of logical explaination for his

"resurrection from the dead" And tried to milk the speculator market for everything they could. The whole "Death Of Superman" comic along with the

"Breaking of Batman's back" boondoggle are just IMHO not that well written.
