from aclu.tv: preview the upcoming second season Freedom Files episode "Freedom to Live: The Death Penalty" tells the story of Manny. Poverty-stricken and illiterate, Manny joined the Marine Corps at 17 despite not being able to pass the recruitment test unaided. He performed admirably in Vietnam, but his war experiences left him a changed man, suffering from acute post-traumatic stress disorder. After he fatally assaulted a woman while in a dissociative state, he was represented by an alcoholic lawyer who used the "n" word. Despite his severe mental illness and heroic service in Vietnam, Manny was executed by the state of California. ACLU- democrats who say hey bring us your black babies- we kill them legally. The slave owners taught us how. Isn't that funny how they come to power and the death rate goes up and up. Thanks for all the help. A gun is better than an education. It will keep your ass alive.

I'm not sure if this is the new video promoted at the Thursday San francisco action committee. This is very emotional but not too helpful in challenging facts.

on what basis do you 'doubt it' Gerry...? After every war society suffers indirectly from psychologically damaged veterans. More British Soldiers who served in the Falkland Islands have committed suicide since '82 than died in the fighting. Gulf War 1 has already provided the Oklahoma Bomber and the Washington Sniper. Being sent to kill people by your country really isn't 'convenient' at all.

I don't believe Manny got his paranoid schitzophrenic personallity from the military. And I doubt his military service had much affect on his killing someone else. But it is always a convienent excuse.
