this is great information. I really appreciate these videos. I need to use a Darning foot right for this? Also can you use inexpensive flannel as a batting?

Yes, you do need to use a Darning foot and really you should try to find an open toe darning foot like the one in my videos. It allows you to see the needle very clearly.

Yes, you can definitely use inexpensive flannel! I've just finished a jacket that used flannel as the batting and it came out great.

Just make sure you prewash it before you quilt it because flannel is known to shrink!
