Awe, the good ole quads...the TV station that I worked at in the mid-90s still had the 2" reels, which were mainly for commercials at that point. We had 3/4" decks for news video.
The announcer is Tom McDonald, the voice of The Texas News back when it was primarily a news reel. Once WBAP-TV changed to an anchor format, Tom became the head news writer/editor. He was my mentor and dear friend when I was fresh out of North Texas.
That desk is awesome. Way before the "Lone Star Five" they'd get in '74. (AND THAT SAME "STAR FIVE" STILL BEING USED TODAY!)

This is great stuff. I live in Dallas and remember the channel 5 intro., the announcers voice brings back so many memories.
