"Anne Waldman is an internationally known poet, performer, professor, and editor with strong personal links to the New York School, the Beat Literary Movement and the experimental strands of the New American Poetry. She is a Distinguished Professor of Poetics at The Jack Kerouac School of Disembodied Poetics at Naropa University in Boulder, Colorado, a program she co-founded with poet Allen Ginsberg in 1974. She is the author of more than thirty books, and co-editor of countless books, periodicals and journals. She is the recipient of grants from the National Endowment for the Arts, the Poetry Foundation and is a winner of The Shelley Memorial Award for poetry. Anne Waldmans considerable literary archives reside at the Hatcher Graduate Library in Ann Arbor, Michigan, which hosted a symposium and exhibit from that collection in March of 2002. Waldmans collaborations with visual artists are legendary, and she will discuss this convergence of minds in a talk entitled THIRD EYE/MIND, covering her projects with artists Joe Brainard, George Schneeman, Susan Rothenberg, Richard Tuttle, Donna Dennis and Pat Steir."
