Piper shows he is a wolf in sheeps' clothing. the wolf is the set of impulses he wages war against, after all if he fights them he is not free of them. & the sheep's clothing is the fight against the evil.

what did Jesus say? "Come to ME all who are heavy laden and I will give you rest"

violence against violent impulses in ourselves is STILL violence, is STILL ungodly response, and is an EXRPESSION of sin, NOT the cure to it.

I can scarcely believe that a preacher could be so heretical

@Strefanasha When Jesus made the cord of whips and went into the temple. Was he passive aggressive or violent? When Jesus says that we must pick up our cross and follow after him. Our flesh will cry out in protest! What Piper is saying is that we must wage war agents the flesh and it's desires. And refuse to make peace with our complacency and indifference to the things that God hates. Piper is one of the most Christ centered people I know. Keep him in context with the rest of his ministry.

@christopherbennett07 Is it John Piper that says that if someone broke into your home and is raping your wife you are to go to another room and pray because God is sovereign?

@Galden172007 I get the feeling that you are less interested in understanding God's sovereignty with suffering and more interested in making someone look stupid for trusting God. Anyone who wouldn't stop such a grave injustice doesn't have the heart of Jesus.

One day God will vindicate all the injustices that we have suffered and even committed. Intel then we need to learn to stop the things that God hates. And be men of courage that stand up for what is right. Whatever that costs us!

@christopherbennett07 My question was not geared toward understanding God's sovereignty. I was simply asking if John Piper is the one who tells people that. I trust God completely. I also understand that because I am a husband and a father it is my duty to protect my family. So if someone was to break into my home and attack my wife or child, I would retaliate and defend my family.

@Galden172007 I agree with you. I'm not sure if he is or not.  I've heard him mention one time that he doesn't have a gun in his house because he wouldn't want to kill a man that isn't ready to die. But I don't think he would stand in the other room and watch his wife being raped.

Hey. Just an interesting fact to those who are arguing about the "shoot or pray". A woman in a small Midwest gas station was getting robbed at gunpoint and had no weapon on her. She screamed,"I rebuke you in the name of Jesus!" and they guy walked out. After I got done choking on my food I was laughing so hard I thought that this was also a pretty powerful story. So, I don't know, not taking sides just thought I'd throw that in for interpretation.

@yoyomaster1026 In sin you will reject Jesus. But people go to hell because of sin. "for the wages of sin is death". But we do have freedom in Christ and he has died for us as the sacrifice for our sins, not for our rejection of him. sin didnt go away when you became a Christian. And to fight it you must make war against it, by reading God's word and (through the power of what Jesus has done for us on the cross) fight with every fiber in you the sin that so easily entangles.

Well you guys can spend 24/7 waging war against your own flesh, I'll spend my time finding ways to get the gospel out that Jesus already did if for us. Our victory from sin does not come from any inner strength of our own, but from grace (God's undeserved favor). If you are struggling with sin get into the Word Jesus said that by us understanding the word will cause you to be fruitful Matthew 13:23. Oh and by the way nobody goes to hell because of sin but because of rejecting Jesus.

when you do all of those things that he said and you are about to enter in the heaven and a Angel come to you and ask: :" how did you get here, you will say because i stopped watching porn, i stop drinking, smoking and fornicating" Then the angel will say. No you are not here becoz of that, yes i know you did all of that but u were still a sinner.. but you are here not becoz of what u did for yourself.. but becoz of what Jesus did for you!
