Nets center/forward Josh Boone and center Brook Lopez brought some special holiday cheer on Tuesday December 22 as they visited pediatric inpatients and outpatients at The University Hospital.
Towering over the children and their parents, Boone and Lopez quietly walked into the rooms at The University Hospital and distributed teddy bears, books, games and toys. Boone, who donated the gifts, was also joined by the team's mascot, Sly Fox, and Santa Claus.
One child the players visited was 3-year-old Sahmir Dillahund. Sahmir's mother Eva Shannon said the visit to her son, who has been in the hospital for two weeks, lifted both their spirits. "He just loves basketball," she said. "Seeing these players put a smile on his face."
