Cigar Plantation, Pinar del Rio , . Cigar Aficionado January 2011 edtion writes about Hector Luis Prieto , the youngest man to ever win the Habanos Man of the Year Award 2008 for a higher yield of fine wrapper than anyone else. The Plantation is located on the San Sebastian River 2 1/2 hours west of Havana , just north of the town of San Juan y Martinez which lies 25 kil south of the city of Pinar del Rio in the province of Pinar del Rio Cuba . Here the newest rising star of cigar production leaves can be visited. The Vuelta Abajo region of Cuba is the finest growing lands for cigar tobacco the world has ever seen, and the leaves from Hector Luis's are among the very best the world produces . The Plantation is open Monday to Saturday with the growing season from November to end of Feb. Some 40,000 plants are open sunlight with 60,000 plants under shade during this time period.
