Having been a mechanic for a 916-6 carrera privateer back in the early 70's in Europe, I find this an excellent video and lots of fun to watch, but it also shows this particular car as being a bit thin on the top end, very long in the gears and wiiiiide in the turns as the tires are just not there either.

Man merkt aber, dass der Fahrer sein Auto liebt und reichlich auf Sicherheit fährt :D
Das volle Potential des 914 schöpft er jedenfalls nicht aus ;)

There's a dark colored car that zips past at about 8:20 and then skids off the road around 8:27. What was it (other than a crazy driver)?

It was a very fast Corvette what lead until this spin but yet could manage to finsih second overall after getting back on the track.
