  • The reason (in case no one responded yet) is because these girls are actresses for the movie "Swing Girls". As part of their roles, they had to learn to play these instruments and these songs in 5 months time (real-life time). And virtually none of these girls knew these instruments prior to the movie. This live concert, "The First and Last", was to show that THEY actually played the music for the movie...that it wasn't dubbed. So in a way, you are correct, they did "break up" haha

  • When do they tour the US?

  • これトランペットのソロ吹いてる人、けっこう上手くないですか?

    センスあるよ。

  • I was stationed in Japan from '73 - '77 and this music was being played in the Japanese "supper clubs". to hear it being played by a much younger generation is very much what Mr. Glenn Miller wanted it to be. MUSIC is to be enjoyed by ALL races. Keep it grovin'.

  • You know, I definitely don't have an answer for that haha. Maybe they really wanted a more fresh (as in complete noobs on instruments [which they were in real life] who become amazingly proficient in a matter of months). That's my best hypothesis...and if that be true, I definitely like the idea cuz it brings more people into good music in a quality way - besides playing to the movie's plot really well. But, I love the sound of the BFJO, Thanks for introducing me to them Eddie!

  • One wonders why the movie's producers didn't enlist members of the BFJO (Big Friendly Jazz Orchestra) from Takasago High School. Those kids are phenomenal musicians and almost ready-made for such a film: see youtube.com/user/jazzmalu

  • I completely understand haha. But well, there are a few options.

    1) If you can find a video rental place that happens to stock up on Foreign foreign films, that's one

    2) Or public libraries, some do have a wide array of films, and some even do inter-library loans so you could potentially place a request for it. So, hopefully you can find it there.

  • I don't think I will buy it before I see it. thanks anyway.

  • Sure...it came out around 2004. If you want to see it, you may actually have to purchase it in Amazon.com or a store that has some focus on international/foreign films. That's too bad it's not on Netflix. Happy hunting :-)

  • Do You know when this movie ""Swing Girls" came out? I could not find it on netflix..
