Don's vocals were not 'average'. There are... MAYBE... four vocalists in all of Rock/Metal that have an R&B quality to their voice. Glenn Hughes, Göran Edman, Don Dokken, I guess if you're counting dead people, Freddie Mercury?

That made the band VERY unique. George being a prodigy did not make the band unique.

You know,Im Proud to say I'm 41 and am solidly proud to have grown up with this music.I graduated in 87 so yal better know i had the good fortune of listening to some very great music.Dokken killed!My two sons are very well rounded in their taste in music but trust me ,they appreciate music like this.My oldest boy cruises around jamming to Priest,Queensryche,Megadeth well any thing greatfrom this era.ROCK ON!

You can hear hundreds of Hair Metal bands with prodigy guitarists.

Don's melodic vocals set the band apart.
