  • Your spot on mate, the A-league is getting better every year !!!!!! I take my 9 yo son to the games and he loves it , he doesnt care for Ronaldo........

    He loves Archie Thompson !!!!!!!!!

  • You also have to remember we're starting the league during the very last matches (biggest matches), of both the NRL and AFL season, so there could be halfway supporters of football finishing off watching their main code.

Apart from that the opening round's crowds were actually up on last year's numbers, so it's not a dreary sight yet. Just wait until things get back to normal and the A-League is the only code in action, then we're sure to see an improvement.

  • There's a few reasons as to why the crowds are down right now. Unfortunately Brisbane has a horrible deal happening with Suncorp that's increased ticket prices to $45. In comparison other clubs have kept ticket prices to last year's numbers (for instance Sydney is just over 30 bucks, I believe).

Melbourne is having this terrible idea of playing on Thursday nights and it's very apparent that not everyone's going for it.

  • i love this new season! though considering melbourne is the football capital of australia, they should have like 3 or 4 teams, not to mention the whole of victoria.

  • the crowds attendances are down from what they usually are. its because of all the other codes being in their finals series

  • 300,000 kids in australia now play football, the future is very bright...

What we need however is for people to support local football as well as the overseas league, EPL, Serie A and the likes...

What I dont and will never understand is why people support overseas clubs, which they have no connection to in anyway shape or form...

The football in the A-league this season has definately improved..

    Grassroots FTW!

  • The thing is , right now there is AFL and NRL finals (Australian Rules Football and rugby) so the attendances arnt very big as Football (soccer) isnt the main sport, Melbourne tend to get much larger crowds (30-40 thousand) during the summer. and a New Stadium is being built for Melbourne Victory because it is such a thriving club.

  • I love watching A-League and MLS. The standard of football isn't brilliant but the spectacle is good, MLS seems to be thriving now because they are mostly in new stadiums but the attendances do not look high in the A-League. I hope it survives.

  • nice video champ
