Heres my old A4000 booting up and running Risc OS 3.11.

Please Note:

I do not own this computer anymore, it was sold on ebay about a year ago. Please don't ask me for the risc os roms as i don't have them anymore. I use VirtualRPC for my risc os needs these days.

  • does acorn have internet when it was created ???

  • @teddyburners There is no built in word processor but there is built in a app called !Edit, that is just a basic text editor just like notepad in windows.

  • they should reintroduce the Acorn computers into schools. You can run these with very low power, very low system requirments(for the power) ,fast reliable and easy to use. Can be run off recycled mobile phone chips. Stuff one of these inside a compuuter keyboard...and hey presto a real useable computer that costs almost nothing to build and run!!! Tonnes of educatinal software and easy to network. Every kid should have one inside a mini keyboard...no more need for books or registration..

  • I learned to program in my first senoir year on an Arc, then one day in 95 the curriculum changed and the school bought in a load of dx66 PC's. So instead of learning to program, we learned how to mail merge and write letters....;(

  • @zacoogioog If it's got a standard VGA connection on the back, which it looks like it did (the normal blue monitor cable) I'd have thought you could use any monitor with it.

  • Quieter than both my computers :D

  • @genesis70000 Wow! Relax! Why would you put an expensive SSD into an old computer!? Put it in MY computer!! :P

But to stay on-topic: I guess it'd really be flying if you'd put an SSD in there - even this Acorn computer boots *relatively* fast!

  • @hamster700 anyone wanna buy one

  • i have this computer but the screen dosn't work, can i use any screen eg lcd?

  • @geoffart Internet has been around for a long time. The web on the other hand is more recent.
