Life of Tiberius Gracchus.

Rome was once a largely democratic society, with regular elections. This Republic lasted for 500 years, but then came Tiberius Gracchus. He believed in the ideals of the Republic - fairness, decency and justice for everyone -but was appalled by Rome's aristocrats' treatment of the poor. So he unleashed the power of the mob upon the streets of Rome, with devastating consequences.

  • Thank you for these videos, I love history and these are very interesting. I would have never seen them if you had not uploaded them, so thank you again!

  • This was really well made!

  • why are there so little knowledge about the numantine wars?

  • What is Tiberius a communist? lol jk

  • @meerkat1954

Its extremely similar.By the time Gracchus lived the members of the senate could only be of noble birth.

Much like our political system is turning now.Theyre making it so expensive to run for office that only the rich could gain office. The poorer are getting poorer because their interests are not represented in the govt even though they make up the majority of the population just like Rome.

Incidentally Washington D.C. was once named Rome Maryland.

Dont wait till the oil runs out

  • we watched this in class when studying Gracchus. and when that guy came up (i've forgotten his name already) we all burst out laughing, he sounded like a yoda

  • For 360p , the quality is very good. Nonetheless , very interesting documentary. Rome is such a phenomenal place as is Italy as a whole. Forza
