Peremen! ~ перемен! ~ Change! [remix 2006] Viktor Tsoi & Kino
~ Czarina ~ [freeflo2007]
A house beats remix of the great Viktor Tsoi's Peremen! ~ перемен!. A lot of people don't like remixes but they're everywhere and I really like this one.

For the theme, I chose the repression of LGBT communities in cities of the FSU and other Eastern Bloc nations - especially the brutal treatment of participants at Moscow Pride Spring 2011.

In English, перемен! translates as Change!, Changes!, and I Demand Change! Whichever is closest, I think the theme of demanding full Equal Rights for all fits the song well.

перемен! ~ Peremen!
Change! [an English translation]

Instead of fire, there's only smoke.
Instead of warmth, cold.
Another day is crossed out on the calendar.
The red shining sun has completely burned out,
And this day goes out with it,
And over a glowing city, the shadow will fall.

We want change!
It's the demand of our hearts.
We want change!
It's the demand of our eyes.
In our laughter, in our tears, and the pulse in our veins.
We want change!
And changes will begin...

Bright electric light continues our day,
And the box of matches is empty,
But in the kitchen, like a blue flower, gas burns.
Cigarettes in our hands, tea on the table,
So this scheme is easy,
And there's nothing more left, it's all up to us.

We want change!
It's the demand of our hearts.
We want change!
It's the demand of our eyes.
In our laughter, in our tears, and the pulse in our veins.
We want change!
And changes will begin...

We can't brag about the wisdom in our eyes,
And our gestures aren't very skilled,
But even without all that - understanding remains.
Cigarettes in our hands, tea on the table,
That's how the circle is filled,
And suddenly we've become scared to change something.

  • Hi, why do gay pride paraders get arrested in Moscow? Is it illegal to be gay? Greetings from Mexico.

  • @Zenboy23 Hi there! Greetings from Florida in the USA.

I am neither Russian nor am I lesbian/gay, but I am an activist in the worldwide LGBT movement as a 'Straight Ally'.

It is not illegal to 'be' gay in Russia, but the discrimination and homophobia is fierce like it is in so many other places. Pride Parades and demonstrations are banned.

Check out the Wikipedia article: LGBT Rights in Russia

  • @freeflo2007 Very interesting, thanks :) Im straight too but here gay pride parades are massive and same sex couples can get married and adopt, at least in the capital.

  • @Zenboy23

Better than most of the US:(
