Whale bones skeleton gathered at Port Lockroy Antarctica

Starting with the skull of a Blue Whale, the bones from various (Sadly killed during the days of whaling) individual whales, have been assembled together, to give an idea of what these magnificent animals were like. At the penguin rookery beside the British Antarctic Survey heritage trust site of Port Lockroy. Taken 30th jan 2008 while visiting with some shipmates from the lyubov orlova, expedition cruising with quark expeditions.
