"Knights"
CS Team Aquila's original tech demo of (what would later become) Clockwork Knight, powered by Silicon Graphics workstations and revealed in playable form at the 1994 Winter Consumer Electronics Show. There is a possibility that the early interactive UK television phone-in version of Clockwork Knight shown prior to the Saturn's launch (circa early 1995) was also based on this same prototype, unless the production company responsible had a copy of the Japanese code...

"Soccer"
As with Clockwork Knight, the second of Sega's specially-formed CS units, Team Ara, chose the 1994 Winter CES to debut its own Saturn launch title - later retitled Victory Goal for release - as a brief video clip. Sequences from this were used for the final game's FMV introduction, though in this clip they are seen without any special effects. Unfortunately, the source video for this footage does not feature anything from Team Andromeda's stunning Panzer Dragoon tech demo, which once again was previewed as a pre-rendered SGI video.

Virtua Fighter
To the untrained eye, it would be easy to assume that these winning poses come from the Saturn version of the AM2 conversion. However, with more careful observation you will notice that the characters have much higher polygonal detail than they ever did in the final build, especially on the legs and hands (some even have individual fingers)! Arcade footage or prototype Saturn code? The jury's still out on this one, but I've included it - just in case, you know...

NHL All Star Hockey
While the visuals and gameplay remain identical to the final version, the lack of any graphical counters - replaced in this early build with plain text - justifies the decision to include this title in a prototype showreel. Not very exciting, especially considering the significant differences in the last few games. Then again, if you want excitement then it's best not to look to...

BUG!
This is virtually the finished game, though a closer inspection reveals many slight changes to the layout of certain areas. For example, the Reptilia stage featured has several alternate signpost designs, and the heads-up display throughout (in particular, the health meter) was revised at a later date. Once again, text can be seen in the lower portion of the screen - it's possible that the red numbers shown might even be for position reference.

This short video might not be too important for Saturn fanatics, but it's definitely of interest if you enjoy looking at how a certain game looked before its creators finalized their work."

This is just part of a promo video... Virtua Fighter is indeed the arcade game here, and there are quite a few pre-rendered animations at the front. Sega sure did a great job of misleading their followers back in the day... I got that damn VHS the summer of '95 and I was hooked... if only I had known, lol... still my favorite system though.

I had completely forgotten about Bug! It's was okay but nothing special. It's also funny to see the Hockey when they where still using Sprites in the 3D games.
