These are ads for Press Your Luck when it first premiered in 1983. There are two. Look at how primative the set looked....cool looking.

Thanks to Kris Lane for the video.

  • They didn't let us watch this on WJBK-2 in Detroit. I had to try and get it with our antenna (boy does that sound like I'm old) from WEYI-25 in Flint.

  • It still is on GSN, EVEN IF GSN CAN'T GET MORE EPISODES!!!!!!!!!!!

  • @burr1aj I agree. That's why I'm building a big model of it in my room.

  • During the shows run, soon after the Larson eps, Peter made the announcement that he welcomed Detroit channel 2 in carrying PYL. I was surprised Detroit never got it. On that note, im in Grand Rapids, and we never got the '89 NYSI & WOF on CBS daytime.

  • Wow, the first PYL promo here was aired during the Vicki Lawrence/Harry Anderson week of the New $25,000 Pyramid, and the second PYL promo was aired during the Audrey Landers/Charles Siebert week of the New $25,000 Pyramid. And of course Child's Play was on the air for its final week when the first PYL promo was aired but WJXT-TV in Jacksonville did carry Child's Play but not PYL prior to June or July '84.

  • yeah I know :C we don't. shame really.

  • We don't see spinning podiums anymore.

  • That's very blurry, especially the first one!

  • Of course WJXT-TV in Jacksonville didn't get to see this series until at least July 1984 but WBMG-TV in Birmingham got to see this series from the beginning and these promos were aired during the Vicki Lawrence/Harry Anderson week of $25,000 Pyramid and Child's Play, which announced its cancellation the week before.

  • LOL - I used to do that too back in the day..I used to rotate the TV antenna in order to catch programs carried by the Bakersfield affiliate(s) whenever the Fresno network affiliates didnt carry network shows..which was quite often!

  • They weren't the only ones. Apparently, our affiliate in Shreveport (KSLA) aired it for a little while, then replaced it with Donahue.

  • Apparently because your affiliate (WTKR) was run by arrogant jerks who thought their programming was better than network shows. The NBC stations in Raleigh and Charlotte were apparently like that in the 1980s too.
