Saturday morning reruns of the Lone Ranger were sponsored by Tootsie Roll candy.

On the Saturday morning CBS repeats (and the late afternoon ABC repeats as well), Sweets Company Of America [Tootsie Roll] was an "alternate sponsor" with General Mills, 'capn'. Same arrangement during the first season of "ROCKY AND HIS FRIENDS" (1959-'60). And yes, the original opening and closing titles were replaced by a "syndicated" version after 1961, minus the sponsor I.D.s and the "wheat field" transitions. Thanks, Earl.

I think the opening titles and commercial breaks with the wheatfield were actually part of the original network run of the series in its early days. Most of the time, when a show was syndicated, there were no sponsor mentions since that changed from station to station.

That's right, 'NEP'- Mohr was also part of the "stock company" that appeared in the 1946 radio anthology "ACADEMY AWARD" (also with Jeff Chandler appearing under his real name, "Ira Grossel"), AND ocasionally appearing on "THE JACK BENNY PROGRAM" and Lucille Ball's "MY FAVORITE HUSBAND".

Mohr also played Phillip Marlowe on the radio and would also be the voice of Green Lantern on FIlmation's Superhero cartoons in the late 1960's.

...and General Mills was also one of the original sponsors of "THE MICKEY MOUSE CLUB", hence the offer of a "free" laminated cardboard record on specially marked boxes of "Wheaties" (although the sound quality wasn't quite the same as heard in the commercial!).

General Mills not only sponsored the prime-time edition of "THE LONE RANGER" (1949-'57), 'Earl', they also sponsored the daytime repeats on CBS and, from 1957-'61, on ABC's Sunday and Wednesday afternoon repeats as well (although they shared the ad time with "alternate sponsors" during that period). Gerald Mohr, who was the program's original announcer and occasional narrator during the first two years (1949-'51), is featured in this repeat. The 1955-'56 season consisted of earlier episodes...

Actually, "THE LONE RANGER" (for long-time radio/TV sponsor General Mills) was on ABC from 1949 through '57, and also repeated on CBS and ABC daytime for various periods between 1953 and '61....THEN it was parceled into syndication. During the ABC years, the 1951-'52, 1953-'54 and 1955-'56 seasons were repeats of previous episodes. The same General Mills flag appeared before the opening title of Stu Erwin's "TROUBLE WITH FATHER" as well {same sponsor}.
