  • to be fair i yelled as i thought there was nothing left other than death. could not beleive i got away so lightly still i was so pleased to sea the colour of bone.

  • how old are you man?

acording to the yell a bit oldy?

be carefull next time land in a flat surface

  • 42 now but i did not think i was going to survive the accident. you have to see high def or pictures to realise my fait if the wing did not continue to turn and end ove i think multiple trauma would of been the case. the wing wire save my feet and leggs though was 12cm to the bone and did require thumb sergery. was a bit girly screem just did no what to do as i thought it was my last thought of dying

    cheers gary

  • Landing on a ridge line with a bit of cross wind is very dangerous.

  • on second look maybe the dive was your pitch input only you know. think of water flowing, wind must be doing strange things around that ditch so probably still the cause.

    anyway glad you healed

  • looks to me like you were too far back and dropped into wind shadow behind the hill, come in with plenty of speed means you dont do the dive of death.

i hit a severe gradient on the coast once and when you are diving at the floor like this the urge is to push out, but speed is better. shame about the ditch thing made it worse for sure if you had landed 20ft to the right maybee got away with it

    happy landings

  • It looks to me like you were in the rotor, wind was coming from the right on approach, right? Much more speed should help you catch the "sudden fall".

Perhaps it would be better to land thirty meters to the right in the same direction as you were flying with a gentle turn into the wind at last.

Good to know you are okay.

  • That wasn't a scream- it was a warrior cry!!!

  • thanks for this video

  • Still makes me Laugh Gary --- sorry mate, I've landed there before and it drops you quickly, as you flared out to compensate you had the left wing stalled in dead air while the right was a lot higher with the slope of the hill and still flying. really bad luck but the answer is more speed and dont land too far back. Entertainment value is ten out of ten --- well done!!
