Ron Paul and the Drug War

A brief explanation of my understanding of the position of Dr. Paul on drug prohibition. Comments, input, disagreement welcome.

Well it could be a big deal if you have some states who legalise some drugs and others don't. And wouldn't it get confusing then if you have different laws in different states?

No... each state would be free to legislate according to the will of it's people. Someone who opposed the use of drugs would would live in a state where drugs were prohibited, someone opposed to drug prohibition would live in a state where drugs were legal. No confusion, just possible conflict if your state were to ratify the opposing position to you.

Any government plan with the word "war" in it is a complete scam. War on terror, war on drugs, war on poverty is all a plan to scare Americans into giving up more of their freedom. It's a big joke!! War on terror? To the rest of the world WE are the terrorists. War on drugs? The CIA is the biggest drug dealer in the world. War on poverty? what people don't realize is that majority of people in prison are there because of drugs, or violence over drugs. Prohibition of alcohol set the stages for the mob and the crime spree. Once that was lifted alcohol crime went away. With the drugs it is the same thing. How can you have a free society if you are always telling other people what they can and cannot do?

I'll take it one step further. Those who oppose drugs simply won't use them, similar to the present.

You have a good take. But Dr. Paul also wants to treat drug addiction as a medical problem(it is.) He also knows that the main reason so many states continue their futile prohibition policies is because they are addicted to Fed. money and seized assets. He decries the fact that so many individuals and families are destroyed just to keep this cash flow alive.

People were made to be free. Freedom will not create a perfect world. Just the best possible world. Freedom is the solution to the human condition. Ron Paul is the ONLY candidate who understands this. ALL the others tell you that if you give them power(that is, give up your power/freedom) they will fix all life's problems for you. Which makes them either fools or power hungry liars.

Great video! Many people do not realize the corruptness of our government dates way back almost 100 years.. very sad truth that marijuana helps many debilitating symptoms- pain and nausea from chemotherapy among them. LD50 is non-existent, which cannot be said for MOST pharmaceutical medications.

Once the Federal Reserve took over in 1913, the 1914 Drug law was not coincidentally passed, nor was an effective ban on Hemp. This is because by that point Standard Oil (Rockefeller) was in bed with the banks and they did not want the competition of hemp. How much cleaner would our world be if everything was hemp based instead of petro-chemical based? Cotton BTW uses 20 times its fair share of pesticide per pound.

As if the Government REALLY cares so much about our health that they MUST outlaw drugs. Prescription drugs are 100 times more dangerous. Vioxx killed 60,000 Americans. Marijuana has never been proven to kill even one person.
