Yes it's a fine line between standards and crazy. Victor Yelchin is their coach. The current US Woman champ is from our rink, Mirai Nagasu, lovely. So far we are very happy with the overall experience and I am motivated too...instead of sitting there feeling my backside get colder and larger, I've started skating some mornings. I had my 10 year old watch some of these clips of older styles, she's a bit of a throw back. My girls were adopted in Russia, some of it just might be in their genes.

I think first of all he is tough to himself-)(don't forget-he's an Olympic Champion)

My kids skate in Pasadena and their coach is also Russian and he is just as you say, strict but such a good coach. He notices such detail and is kind but demanding. My kids were skating in a hodge podge of clothing, I KNEW it must irritate him, I finally made them skating dresses and he was so complimentary. We just lucked out getting him as an instructor in a group lesson..he's the most expensive for private lessons but so far above the rest!

So many horrible things can happen under competitive stress, you do need the discipline of daily practice to hold your act together sometimes......and you have to put out a professional image, even as a toddler skater!!! lol......good luck and keep us posted on your progress.....best wishes

i know Alexei Ulanov... he's living in florida now, he's a coach in the rink i skate at... he's a nice guy and at the same time a very tough coach, he will get mad at u if u dont try hard enough, but i think that makes him a good coach
