Dr. Rachie, vice president of Australian Skeptics chats to the panel on channel 10's The Project, (Mon. Jan. 23rd, 2012) about the rise of conspiracy theories. The crucial question is raised about Dr. Rachie's robottery. Nobody is the wiser. Coincidence? I think not...

  • No she's just a bitch.

  • I was at a dinner the other night where one of the diners scoffed at 'conspiracy theories'.

I suggested that some might not be so easily dismissed, especially where money is in play. The links that top Obama officials have to big banks, and the seeming immunity of those banks from any legal consequences for their actions sprang to mind. Humbug! Coincidence!

My fellow diner then stated that the world's climate scientists are a cabal of Marxists out to destroy industrial civilisation. Mmm...

  • Yay, Dr. Rachie!

  • Being skeptical is good. Giving up critical thinking to authority and dropping turds in punchbowls is not. e.g. "Some people believe that Charlie Pickering is handsome and that the moon is made of cheese." does not mean that anybody who thinks Charlie Pickering is handsome should automatically be dismissed as a lunatic. It's an intellectually deceptive technique.

Also, Occam's Razer does not apply to criminal activity - Cui Bono is always employed instead.
