This video was created with military children in mind but may be helpful for all children, and even adults, to help learn to proper deep breathing techniques which can reduce stress.

*The audio material for this video was provided by the Child and Youth Health Network of Eastern Ontario. MindMasters is a research-based program that teaches simple, concrete techniques to help children manage stress and frustration, relax fully and develop a positive perspective. These skills may be incorporated into existing children's services, such as therapeutic, educational and recreational services or used by parents at home.

These techniques were originally the concept of Dr. Terry Orlick, author of the book Positive Living Skills - Joy and Focus for Everyone.

  • It's a good video for learning this skill. However, I was disappointed the video didn't cite the main contributor, who is Dr. Terry Orlick. It comes from a program called Mindmasters. Google "Mindmasters" and you'll find the information on the Ontario Mental Health site as it is a complete, evidence based program elementary schools or elementary aged children & families can use. The "spaghetti toes" recording is also from that program.

Thanks to "angeleoux" for bringing it to You Tube.

I have been in contact with Dr Orlick with regard to this series of videos, and appreciate your interest. Though I did not have the information when the video was originally created, Terry Orlick's contribution was noted in the foot notes below the video shortly after it was posted.

    Cheers!

  • THANKU, THIS HAS WORKED WONDERS FOR MY ASPERGERS SONS ANXIETY AND ANGER, TOP STUFF

Glad you and your son could benefit from the videos. I find that some children, no matter how often they are reminded to do so, just do NOT want to close their eyes and become more easily distracted during the activities. The videos are intended to be calming, relaxing, yet intrigue those children who might find it more difficult to relax and keep their eyes shut while doing these exercises...

  • I've always have wanted to try exercises like this. However. I have an uncle who said he knew someone who went into deep a coma doing meditation ( and this guy eventually died six months later in the coma my uncle said), so I'm scared to try any relaxation exercises.
