Bruce Wagman, ALDF's chief outside litigation counsel, and Jennifer Hack of the United States Equine Rescue League discuss the progress of Twister and River, two young horses rescued from starvation. Twister, a colt, is developmentally, medically, and nutritionally handicapped by the Keatings failure to feed him.
River was four months old when she was rescued. Her mother, Rain, who died before she could be rescued, was unable to supply her with sufficient nutrition, and the Keatings failed to provide River or Rain with any supplemental feed.
The Animal Legal Defense Fund, joined by the United States Equine Rescue League and a county animal cruelty investigator are suing three North Carolina residents for severely neglecting eight horses whom they starved in one case, literally to death and deprived of all veterinary care.
