Part 8. This is series where I paint the backdrop behind the river scene on my model railroad on my model railroad. In this part I begin painting the mountains on the backdrop.

Music Notes: The music on this video was recorded using Sonar Home Studio Ver 6.0. The drums and keyboards were played on an M-Audio Keystation 61 ES and/or sequenced in the MIDI Editor. The bass used is an YaMaha 270F Fretless with Dimarzio Pickups.

  • I think the words you are looking for a hue (color,) value (lightness) and chroma (intensity). The background colors are less saturated due to atmospheric attenuation so they have less value and less chroma, but they may be a darker hue than the foreground.

  • Thank you. I was hoping someone would step up to the plate and offer a clearer explanation.

  • Well If that distant hill isn't darker when you sprayed it " I will eat my Hat"!

  • As an artist, the rule we follow is that things in the distance are less clear with less detail and the closer items are clearer and better defined. Lighter and darker are a matter of contrast. Close or far the contrast rule is simple...Dark against light and light against dark. Hope this helps with the words.

  • Nice to see those sunday ads being useful for something!
