Yet another practice session with YAMAHA DTXplorer w/ Addictive Drums. It is always nice to practice with some backing music where you can hear the bass laying out a groove, the guitar playing the main tune etc. rather than playing on a click track. Comments and questions are greatly appreciated as always. Cheers and enjoy!

  • I see Roland V-Drum pad as a snare pad. Does it mean that Yamaha pad (for example, cymbal pad) will work with Roland?

  • @MrMamurk i don't see why not. as pads are simply triggers and use pretty much the same technology regardless of the brand and make. the only issue you may come across may be the amount of zones the cymbal pads have for this model. yamaha dtxplorer has all single zone pads (not chokable for cymbals also) so I would suggest not to expect all the features that a roland module (brain) has to offer to function properly. but i am sure you would get the sound you desire. hope it makes sense.

  • @tolgapala Hmm... I didn't know that dtxplorer pads are single zone pads. I have Roland td-4 kx2 and I would like to get an additional pad... It is easier for me to buy Yamaha pad (I have to wait for Roland). But I see now that I shouldn't buy a single zone pad. Thank you!

  • @MrMamurk if you are able to purchase yamaha pads easier and with no wait i could recommend multiple zone cymbal pads from yamaha such as tp65s (to be used multi purpose as it is a drum pad originally) or the more expensive pcy135 cymbal pad. both supporting three zones. the advantage you will get with pcy135 is chokability i suppose as it is a cybal pad specifically. cheers

  • How did you connect your kit to your pc?

  • @paulfinnleyrecording i am using my m-audio fast track pro usb sound interface and connecting the drumset via midi to it. cheers

  • @tolgapala Sounds great!! I wonder if you can help me... :S I have exactly the same gear you have ( fast track pro usb, dt expolrer, addictives drums throught Sonar X1 ) but I'm having a hard time assignig the pads to the right keys and I'm also experiencing a _)*&?%$ latency that I can't get rid of :P Do you know what it could be? Thanks dude!!

  • @frenstep cool. i am very glad my answer somehow helped. :) cheers and thanks

  • @tolgapala Thanks for the answer and yes it makes sense. Thanks again and keep on drumming!

  • @frenstep hey! thanks for the question. well it depends, if you could have the pin of the original holder in a vertical position, yes but i choose to leave it as is and had my cowbell clamp that has a vertical pin, chewing on to it. hope that makes sense. :)
