1956 Pontiac Chieftain

She starts and runs...the transmission is next on the agenda, that old powerglide won't last long in a heavy mid fifties' car...unless I baby it, and she ain't built to be babied!

Those gaping holes in the fenderwells are going to be welded up with just enough clearance for the exhaust to move when the engine torques over a bit...possibly with some polished stainless covers on the inside.

where can i get motor mounts to drop a 350 in a 56 star chief 4dr sedan? ive been looking like crazy and no luck.

@Eyedea818 - Man, I made mine as a crossmember type thing, just a few pieces of 1" x 2" rectangle tube that attaches to the top of the frame rails, goes down at a 45 degree angle on both sides to match the countour of the block, with some risers about two inches tall with a tube attached on each side for the motor mount bolt to go through.

if you can rig up something similar to the stock bellhousing mounts, you could use the stock holes on the front of ANY sbc to mount it like a 57 chevy. easy.

@Eyedea818 - you're welcome! I wanna see more tri-5 Pontiacs on the road.

The only thing to look for, finding either headers or exhaust manifolds that fit is a chore, the steering column is further foward on the Pontiacs than on the chevy, the rams' horn from vettes flow good but will NOT fit. I got disgusted and just found some shorty headers and modified them to exit out the fenderwells...probably not the best choice, but it works.
