- there is a pain crisis;
- Law Enforcement as true believers;
- a simple and compelling myth;
- pain patients as proto-addict criminals;
- pain is what the patient says it is
- the doctors dilemma;
- Kansas '08: docs don't think rationally when the fed comes in swinging the axe

  • Youvexme: yes docs have been sued for not treating pain. The most oft-referred to case was in CA. The risk to as doc of turning his back on your pain is almost nil. The risk to a solo doc prescribing opioids to moderate numbers of patients is very real, and if they come after you, your professional life is over. Even if you win. I fear even darker days ahead. I so wish I could be more optimistic, but I cannot. Love to all of you - please don't give up - please stay in touch. ..alex...

  • yeah, OvErGrOwinTx - the proof IS in the pudding.

    that's the point - The Pain Crisis is NOT a problem of Medicine or Science. It is a political problem at core - prohibition is a BIG LIE. thanks, ..alex...

  • Thank you very much for speaking out. I have chronic back pain and nerve pain from a fairly recent 20% coverage 3rd degree burn. The only place I got decent treatment was in the emergency room. It's nearly impossible to find a decent doctor that's not a coward.

  • Just when I think my heart can be no heavier. The truth hurts. The lives of us who are in pain and on medicaid/medicare are so without value. The depth of hopelessness...we cannot have relief or we are labled by unethical doctors and their cohorts as 'addicts" I cannot take my own life.Doctors do that every minute of every day...

  • @doctordeluca i have been crying all weekend i am in so much pain and i dont know what to do, i cant understand how i can treated as a drug seeker when i have no drugs or havent been given any in months so what do i do, when i try and talk to a medical proffesional i see and hear a wall coming up, to make things worst most test i have come out find, what can i do other then killing muself cause i cant live like this

  • The Pain Crisis is not even a political problem, more of a political solution actually. It has been long accepted that a person in pain is more susceptible to psychological manipulation (including all forms of advertising and propaganda) than is a pain free individual. This makes a systemic refusal to (adequately) treat pain entirely rational from a social control perspective, particularly when failure to treat can induce criminalized behavior which then justifies a police state apparatus.

  • I live in california and i cannot hear any of your videos

  • May I ask you, being that you are know the law. Do pain patients ever have recourse suing docs for undertreatment of pain. In my case I was in extreme pain in front of half a dozen people, and the doc ignored me, while his nurses stuffed me in my car. I could not get out without help - in fact my wife had to drive me to the ER from there.

    Thanks

    I'll understand if you cannot answer - I didn't mean to abuse the privilege.

  • proof is in the pudding. i am a methadone patient, it has completly stopped my criminal behavior.
