just think of how distraught mary was when she held jesus' body. i can't even imagine the extreme grief she must have gone through. she truly is mother to us all.

I agree with you, but I do have my own idea. The difference is that in the original, the story was set in biblical times with some modern elements mixed in. In this one, it's set in modern times, which makes it, in a way, seem awkward at the crucifixion.. Just my opinion, but the setting is what makes it so bland.
