i would aslo like to know what size tubing you use
-
What size frit d'you use mate? Ive tried that technique with NS jet black powder and things turned ugly fast! Ive also tried with NS Turbo Cobalt Small frit, but it turned out splotchy and didnt look solid - cool effect but still wasnt the same effect.

what size tubing are you using for the pipe and for the punty/blow-pipe

yo mape ex most of it is actually in how fast you rotate the piece and your skill... it doesnt get hotter just bigger unless u were to crank your oxy then it gets colder. just practice with it.
Never seen stringers done that way. Interesting. Looks easier than actually drawing on each one. But how does it work when you want the whole inside coved in stringers? Cracks? Either way, I have to try it now!

well part of the reason I do it that way is that its hard to draw them with a midrange. I have a redmax with a rider and I can draw them on with the rider. If I am doing prodo work that doesnt need precise stringer placement or full stringer coverage this is by far way quicker for me. I dont get cracks but thats because of practice.

mostly likely 38 heavy. its been a long time, but I think at the time I think I was buy cases of 38 heavy but who knows anymore???? And for the frit size...the smallest? its not powder and its not the larger chunks. And the stringers are just ones that I pull, so the size just depends on my mood.

Do you really crank your oxy and prop? I got a brand new mid range nortel and it just doesn't seem to get as hot as yours...

I set my oxy a little higher than it ask for but I also push it to its limits...dont be scared experiment with the settings (regulators that is) till you get the flame you want.

ye dude, but doesnt that extra pressure n shit wear on the equipment more. couldnt you just wait a little longer. but thats just from what when ive fucked around in my classes.

Of course it does but I dont run it on full blast the whole time. Sometimes I just need a little more heat and waiting a little longer doesnt mean the piece will get the temperature I need it. I have a redmax and CC; both I set a little higher also. I am expecting to put wear onto my torches (thats what they are for!).
