@wishfix 32 F-14 Tomcats were "sold" given to Iran in the 70's. They went batshit crazy with Islam & we stopped shipping parts for the aircraft. The F-14's were really payment for putting medium range nuclear missiles on Russia's doorstep, like Turkey. Once relations went south, Iran kept the half dozen or so nukes and the F-14s. This prompted Israel to step up it's nuclear program in the mid 70's with S. Africa and lead to the clandestine nuclear detonation of 1979 in the Indian Ocean.
