The title is in honor of Hikosaemon who started it with this vid:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3dYONRRlKzA

Check his out to know what I'm talking about at the beginning.
I've been traveling around the world for over 5 months now, and I know how invaluable a bit of information from someone who knows the place well can be - even just as simple as a name of a place and a hint that it might be "my kinda spot".
Not everyone matches every place...for example I hate Roppongi with a passion, but TokyoZeplin seemed to love the place.
I, on the other hand, love taking a walk in Nippori, but I remember AtomicboyX saying he thought it was the most boring place ever.
To each his own, right? So this might help you find the places that are right for you before going there and make your visit to Tokyo have more depth and be more fulfilling. If not...well, don't watch it. :P

If you wanna join in, try to put "HikoGuide" in the title of your video 'cause that'll make YouTube automatically connect them all and it'll be easy for people even years from now to easily go through the vids. Or at least put it in the tags. ;)

Where are your favorite places in Tokyo? Why?

If you have been to any of the places I've mentioned and shot video, be sure to post it as a video response to this vid!

I'm only in Tokyo for 10 days now, but loving every second of it!
Glad I could make another vid from Tokyo...sorry about the picture/sound quality. I don't have a lot of free time, and wanted to get it out, so just shot with the webcam.

Next stop, I'm going to India, and then traveling around South Asia for a while.

I have some travel vids @ my TolokyoRAW channel, and I'll be making more and more Caught Doin' Good videos from here on out.

Happy New Year everyone~!!
And Happy YouTubing in 2011 (^__^)/

  • @foreverGraceby Visit "TolokyoRAW" for the answer. ;)

  • I love azabu jyuban + roppongi hills.

I love the atmosphere, and the shops are diverse.

The food is amazing, and roppongi hills has some awesome architecture.

It also shows off the modern aspects of Japan.

Meiji Jingu was pretty awesome too; it's pretty simple and not much to do, but I love the trees and the temple was awesome!

Kamakura is very beautiful, but I guess it's outside of tokyo.

    Is takatanobaba near waseda university?

I miss Japan; I wish I can go there soon again :)

  • @3greviews Yeah - Waseda is actually at Waseda station, but it's right around the corner from Takadanobaba, and all the Waseda students come to Baba to hang out.

Azabu Jyuban is a good place to live if you're a rich expat -- a lot of that area is made for expats in financial firms or embassy workers and such. There are some good restaurants and lots of interesting spots. I actually heard Juban has now one of the highest concentrations of yakuza...don't know if it's true or not though.

  • i'm going to korea this year, we might take a little trip to japan :)

  • @louisfcorea I can give you some Korea tips if you'd like.

Watch out when drinking lemon soju....tastes like lemonade - hits like vodka. ;)

Where will you go in Korea?

  • I'll add my video "Sakura trees in-between Iidabashi and Ichigaya" as a video response because, as i mention in it, it was inspired by one of your walking video in that area~

Happy new year to you~ (^ω^)b

  • @louisfcorea im going to seoul for like a week and then visit my brother in suwon

  • I walked past the Tokyo University (in March, two years ago) and I somehow got the feeling that only students were allowed on campus. A guy in uniform was standing at the main entrance and some students showed him a paper. I could be wrong though, maybe he was just there to help... :)

  • were you trying to say shin okubo?

  • OH wow dude i thought you actually did your hair that way. I like it!!

  • @zerosonico Don't you dare not moving back to Tokyo ¬¬

  • Takadanobaba. Just outside the station in the McD's corner opposite from Big Box.

That's my fav spot in tkdnbb so far. There's always someone playing music there.
