  • Hello Dell,

I'm looking into purchasing one of the M series precision laptop. I currently use 3d CAD software on multiple screens connected to my M1530. The newer versions of the CAD software is taking it's toll on my system. So, I'm looking for a machine that will provide me with years of use without being bogged down with continuous graphical advancements. Which would be your top topic?

  • @jonschuma The M6600 is a great choice for a mobile workstation. Get configuration requirements from the software you are using and then build around that.

  • @StudioDell So, which one do you think is more suitable for me ?

    Allienware, M6400 workstation or Latitude E6520 ?

    Please advice. tq ... :)

  • @MrAvatar9999 M6400 would be the better choice. The Latitude line of notebooks is also aimed at business professionals but may/may not have the horsepower and graphics options you may need to run your apps. So a lot may depend on the requirements of the software. You might want to visit the Dell website and chat with a sales rep. There are also resources such as case studies that center around financial institutions and their use of Dell products.

  • Hi StudioDell,

I running trading paltform call "Multichart" with live streaming data, do you think M6400 workstation or Alienware notebook will perform better ?

Pls advice, tq in adv... :)

  • @MrAvatar9999 Alienware systems are primarily gaming systems. Workstations are typically tuned for cad/cam, visualization, engineering, 3d graphics, video editing and other such uses.

  • This laptop (M6500 Dell) is absolut crap, it cant be used for professional use. The mousepointer moves randomly - drawing picture, writing text, sending emails: all this is hard work for a M6500 Dell laptop. Dont buy this peace of debris.

  • I have a M4500 with two 24" monitors plugged in via DVI on port plus. Can i add a third monitor to it, like you state on the M6500? I have i7 Q840 1.87 proc, NVIDIA Quadro FX880M 1GB graphics. I can't find anything anywhere to answer my question, besides USB solution, any help is appreciated. Thanks - Karl

  • @StudioDell Thank you for the advice... :)

  • I have a M6500 with a M7740 gfx card, is there a work around with the docking station for me to have 3 monitors, even if one of them is the laptop screen?
