The planar biped robot ERNIE, designed and constructed in the Locomotion and Biomechanics Laboratory at The Ohio State University walks at steady state on a treadmill with rounded feet whose centers of curvature are located anterior to the tibias. The gait was actually designed for walking with point feet, and the backward body tilt is primarily due to this fact.
