This is Part 3 in the series. We are working with Simplicity pattern #2290 to make a pair of comfy pants.

In this video I walk you through the steps on how to actually sew the pair of pants together. This also includes learning how to create an elastic casing for the waistband and how to measure and insert the elastic in the waistband. I also walk you through the steps for hemming your new pair of pants! This is a great beginning sewing project where I show you how to read and understand a commercial sewing pattern.

If you have not watched Parts 1 & 2 in the series you can check them out here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=984XMmBAhoE

  • @kokienga One way of doing it is before you cut the pattern to trace only the size you want by laying tracing paper over the pattern and slowly tracing the lines with a pencil, etc.

  • @irikel You can use pinking shears or a zig zag stitch close the edges of the seam allowance to keep it from fraying.... or for pajama pants like this you can even leave it like that if you want but when it get swashed the inside seams will fray.

  • I love these videos...how do you do the raw edges?? Do you just leave them like that or use pinking shears zigzag ??

  • @TheCraftyGemini Thank you so much!!! I went to my first class and made a pillow case. My second class there was a misunderstanding and the teacher didn't show. The third class I had to reschedule. I brought additionl fabric and pattern (5271) while there(14 pieces, I KNOW NOW BIG MISTAKE). This will help me so much. I've sewn a childs pj(by myself with the pattern) I cant figure out how to sew an or cut out the pattern without ruining the other sizes. I cut the small but what if I want to use M

  • @shimpals No problem. Thank you. :o)
