@beaelliott no you dont need to eat meat to be a muslim, a person can be a vegetarian muslim, mohammed stated that it is haram to overload a camel or horse, the people of mekka thought he was crazy...

@peacefularab Yes, I understand what you were trying to say - But my understanding is this: That "humane" means to be concerned with alleviating suffering. These animals are not injured, sick, diseased or in pain - In fact, they are quite healthy and fit for life. So what "suffering" is there to end?

To be compassionate one must do the most with kindness... Not be stingy with the least. Not trying to convert you either - just stating a point. ;)

@beaelliott islam doesnt "require" eating meat, but if a muslim is to eat meat, then he has to eat halal meat, because, as you see in many youtube videos how animals are electrocuted and totured, it is haram in islam, btw you dont have to be muslim to eat meat, im not trying to convert you, im just stating a point (:

@peacefularab Hello - In Islam... Will your God love you any less if you choose to be compassionate and forgo killing animals "nicely"? I don't know of any modern religion that "requires" meat eating. Causing "very little pain" is okay... Causing the least amount is even better. Why harm someone at all without necessity?

@beaelliott in islam it is haram (forbidden) to torture animals, it is said that if a muslim finds an injured animal,, he either prays for its soul and kills it instantly (causing little pain before death) and it will go to heaven or he takes care of the injured animal and raises it to full health, halal meat is cows that are slaughtered by hand, very quickly and only causing very little pain to the animal, we also pray for the animals soul in heaven.
