The largest bay in the United States is dying.

The Chesapeake Bay, once brimming with life and commerce, is not dying alone. It is taking with it a way of life for the thousands of watermen who have made their living on the bay for generations.

Its not too late to save them both.

The Last Boat Out documentary weaves two tales: The inspiring story of a family of watermen tirelessly trying to preserve their life of farming the bay. It is also the story of a bay battered by development and pollution struggling to stay alive.

It is a story of neglect, mistakes, diminishing harvests, and development run amok, but it is also a story of hope and human determination: • The Virginia Peninsula community is helping to replenish the bay through oyster farming. • Environmental organizations are suing the government to uphold the EPAs promise to remove the bay from the nations dirty waters list.
Your support will help educate the public about the potential demise of the Chesapeake Bay and its watermen.

  • The watermen's go out everyday to make a living. The on land jobs if product goes up the living increase goes up...So why is it not happen with the watermens...My husbands been on the water since he was 15 and he's 48 and the price of the products that they get to keep there equipment running is gone up trumindusly and the money for the crabs are still the same that make there income..So you tell hat is wrong with that picture...My husband loves to watch the sun come up:)

  • I had a chance to see the entire film on PBS, what a great documentary, I come from a family of watermen, this is a graet way to show some respect to all the watermen they we take for granted every time we eat crabs and oysters, good job.

  • Cant wait to see the entire video, if anyone knows when it will be out, please comment.
