A debate between an Iraqi "Researcher on Astronomy" and a physicist on Iraqi television.

The verse in question is in the Qur'an, 79:30. The word daḥāhā (دَحَىٰهَا) does not mean "egg-shaped" nor "spherical." For all ignorant Muslims who think it does, please see these two articles: http://corpus.quran.com/wordbyword.jsp?chapter=79&verse=30

  • hahahaha I wanna party with that Iraqi astronomer!!!! Earth is flat!

  • just another proof that religious people are dumb, nothing new...

  • GUYS. THE EARTH IS THE CENTER OF THE UNIVERSE.

I can't believe we are in a technologically advanced society that can send messages all the way across the world and back within seconds, and yet are stupid enough to not apply a logical thinking process to religion instead of blindly believing every stupid word.

    Are we really so foolish?

  • death to islam those uneducated basterds

  • Hey guys, the sun is 2x the size of the moon. lololololol.

  • @forgottenmemories63 yes. and even more, it's empathetic. It describes what a limited mortal person thought s/he sees without enough knowledge.

  • @LuciferAmadeus Ok, Well thank you for answering that. So I assume it is used in a Poetic Metaphor.

  • @forgottenmemories63 on the other hand, the verse did not declare it as Gods creation. The verse, if it were to say God created it, would've read something like "God arranged it so that the sun set in a spring of dark mud" or just simply leave out and state it like a declarative "The sun set in a spring of dark mud". The verse simply communicate what is hidden in a person's heart or mind.
