@andyman2461 Couldn't agree more! The clyde ship building industry, of whats left of it, has to be kept alive, let alone the amount of people it will keep in a job!

Jeese, no wonder Kennacraig and Port Ellen need so many upgrades to take this thing - its huge! My dad is actually going to be the cheif enginneer and it just so happens I've designed the new electrical systems for the revised Kennacraig and Port Ellen terminals. Can't wait to see it all finished in place.

I was just thinking. Jimmy Reid died last month and they took his coffin from Rothesay over on a Polish built ship. Don't you think in memory of him Calmac should of sent the Jupiter or the Saturn to take his coffin over. If Jimmy Reid saw that he would be taken on a slugging unmanouverable polish ship then I don't think he'd be best pleased. The next ship for Calmac better be on the Clyde. Or Calmac will have ruined the Clyde's shipbuilding reputation.

It's still a disgrace that we seem the only country in the EU who obey the crazy Eurocrat Rules when the Germans, French and others just pay lip service to them and then do what the hell they like.

What a spectacular sight a ship launch always is. However its a disgrace that it is not built on the Clyde. The finish and quality of the build would be better and a Scottish Company should be bending over backwards to give work to British ship yards. SHAME ON YOU CAL MAC AND SHAME ON THE SCOTTISH GOVERNMENT
The tender to build MV Finlaggan was open to all European bidders as required by EU law. No Scottish shipbuilding companies submitted a bid for the work. Out of the four bids received, Remontowa represented very good value for money in a challenging market.
