Arlington police need assistance in identifying suspects from a recent vehicle theft from The Parks at Arlington mall. On Friday, Dec. 04, 2009, at approximately 3 p.m., three men parked their car next to a 2004 Chevrolet Silverado pickup truck and broke into the truck. Two of the men stood outside the pickup, apparently as lookouts, while the third broke into the truck and drove away in it.

Arlington police spotted the truck and the suspects car - a silver or tan Ford Taurus - leaving the parking lot and initiated a chase with the trucks driver. Not long into the pursuit, officers decided to discontinue the chase because they determined that the high number of vehicles on the roadway could be a hazard.

The three suspects were described as Hispanic men, who all appeared to be heavy-set with very short hair. All of them had on black clothing. One suspect had a mustache. Anyone with information on this vehicle theft is asked to call Arlington Police or Crime Stoppers at (817) 469-TIPS (8477). All tipsters remain anonymous and could be eligible for a cash reward.

As the busy shopping season continues, the Arlington Police Department wants to remind people to be vigilant in parking lots. Some safe shopping awareness points include:
•Suspects are known to commit these crimes in broad daylight.
•One common method is for suspects to park next to or very close to the vehicle they intend to break into or steal.
•They may use "lookouts" to protect the crime in progress. Lookouts can be standing near or behind victim vehicle and will try to look "normal" in an attempt to not draw attention.
•Please remember to lock your vehicle, take your keys and belongings.
•Call 911 to report suspicious activity immediately.
