www.RFME.org (full story)

For 40 years I have had a lifelong dream of running the Boston Marathon after my father ran it when I was 7 years old.

On June 7th I finally decided to accomplish this goal and started training for it. At the time, I weighed 276.7 pounds and could literally only run 10 yards.

On March 7th, I weighed 164.2 pounds, a loss of 112.5 pounds. The following weekend I ran 21 miles and did it in 3 hours 19 minutes, finishing it on Heartbreak Hill.

Last Sunday, in an attempt to do the marathon in under 4 hours (a friend promised me an extra $250 for the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation if I did it in under 4 hours and I am trying to save the life of my 10 year old niece Julia) I pushed myself too hard and pulled my calf muscle. I was a 1/2 mile from my house.

My friend Barry was filming me for a short video I am putting together to document my transformation when I pulled my muscle and you can hear me scream out in pain.

At the time I didn't think it was that serious but as I type this, I am in considerable pain and it hurts just to walk. I have 2.5 weeks before I have to run 26 .2 miles and frankly at his time, I don't know if I will be able to do it...

BTW, sorry about the language - pain and disappointment trumps etiquette I suppose.
