Compared to the Carrerases and the Pavarottis of our time he is outstanding. I would say that the recordings of italian opera, not the songs by Alfvén and Sibelius in Swedish, are Björling at his best. Just listen to his concert on the 13th of April 1959 with Frederick Schauwecker at the piano. He WAS the art of singing. His personal problems with alcohol cannot be heard in his recordings, he was able to conquer them when he stood before an audience. And he never brought a towel on stage!

Masterful singing. Jussi was always true to the composer's intent, without forced artifice, but enriched by his unique vocal timbre, technical brlliance, and haunting soulfulness. The climax in this number is simply spectacular. Indeed, the recordings of Swedish songs he made in 1957 are inspired, most made with one take. Jussi had such a fantastic technical mastery and breath control that he could whatever he wanted with a song. We will never see his like again.

he's the best singer that ever walked this planet!
though there's been discussions about his real birthday and in the churches birthjournal, it says that his birthday is the february 2, and the day jussi himself celebrated his birthday was actually the 2 as well. (i know, i'm a bit nerdy, but how can't you be when it's about mr. bjorling?)

As always, Bjorling is perfect here! When I need to revisit proper vocal technique, I always listen to his recordings.

He always such a warm, rich voice and this is one of his best recordings of a piece little known outside of Sweden. What a wonderful performance!

Han var bäst. He is the best tenor ever! Han var allra bäst när han fick sjunga på Svenska. He was at his best when singing in Swedísh!
