I decided to do a demonstration of my Panasonic Blu-ray disc player with the movie American Gangster. I have a 42" Toshiba REGZA 1080p HDTV, Panasonic BMP BD30 BD player, Yamaha RX-V663 Surround Receiver, Philips 3575H HDD/DVD recorder, and a Bose Acoustimass 16 speaker system. I also have a Harmony 890 remote to control the system with.

  • Nice video man, all your videos are very professional.

I see you got a new receiver and tv. How do you like the Toshiba? How does it compare to your old Vizio? The REGZA series are some of the best tvs on the market. I would have gotten one if I could afford it lol, but I'm happy with my Vizio for now.

Also, how come you ditched your old H/K receiver?

  • Hey thanks for your comment! I really like my Toshiba. I do find that the picture quality is somewhat better then my Vizio. I mainly went with it because I wanted to get a 1080p HDTV so I could get the most out of Blu-ray. I always recommend Vizio to people who are looking for a budget TV, but if you want to step up a little bit Toshiba is a good value. I sold the H/K because I wanted a Dolby True HD/DTS HD compatible receiver. I felt that Yamaha offered a lot of value for the money.

  • The other reason that I went with Yamaha this time is that although I loved the styling and the sound of the H/K receiver I found that it had a lot of little gremlins in it. Sometimes it would have trouble identifying soundtrack flags and it would not change to the right mode and other times it would mess with the video coming through the HDMI creating a "clay face" effect until I reset it. Maybe someday I will try H/K again, but I was concerned about reliability so I went with a Yamaha.

  • Hey, there is simpler way to play Blu-ray movie. You may backup Blu-ray disc to your computer with WinX Blu-ray Decrypter. Then play it with media player which supports Blu-ray, such as VLC, SMplayer, DAPlayer, etc.

  • AWSOME SYSTEM

  • What is U-Control?

  • have you still your bose acoustimass system
