The Hunslet Boys Club features on the BBC Younger Generation Radio Show - "Under 20's Parade" last week of December, 1952. The club had entered the "Parades' Youth Group of the Year" Competition and Club Captain Leslie Sissons was interviewed about the clubs' annual fundraising "Club Week".
Whilst The Hunslet Club did not win, it came in for special commendation from competition judge, Richard Attenborough. This audio recording was made by Cliff Goodyear, Club Leader at the time. The tape was rediscovered 57 years later under the present Hunslet Club stage. The BBC at that time did not retain copies of such broadcasts, making this the only surviving copy of a historic programme.
The tape was cleaned up and copied to modern format thanks to sound engineering expert, Bill Rowe, from Radio Poplar - http://www.radiopoplar.com
