  • wow dude that was 10 years ago how fast is she now?

  • hi zonacaliente, The white dune buggy has been retired, but I still run the transmission in a 1952 VW split window beetle. I have detuned the present engine to run 7's in the eight. Alot less problems and maintenance, and still having fun. LOL thanks for viewing and asking.

  • Hi.

Is that stock vanagon trans ?

Can it handle big HP with no problems ?

  • Hi VRsixth, I tried a stock transmission, but quickly learned the weak points when I was making this much horsepower.(6.20's @ 116mph). The type 2 CV joints could not handle the power. I fabbed some 930 porsche flanges and installed the big CV joints and sway-away axles. Then the stock input shafts would twist in two. ( they are rated at 450 horsepower ) I had a new input shaft made out of 300m material. No more problems.

  • damn you killed that car

  • hi, flodeezul,

    thanks .. LOL

  • hey Lordestroyer, you have good ears, and yes I had some issues with keeping the heads sealed. That engine had 10 mm studs. Had 8.0 comp ratio, I was running 18 psi with VP blue race fuel. Can I ask what studs, torque, comp ratio, fuel, and timing you use ? also, I have gone draw thru now instead of blow thru EFI. thanks

  • Hey bro, she sounds like shes pushing the heads off. That "braaaaap" sound is compression escaping. What head studs you running? How much boost?

  • hi villyelg, the car with me in it weighs a little more than 1450 lbs. I weigh about 250, so the car is right around 1200 lb. The frame is mild steel and the automatic, and turbo, and homemade heavy duty brake system really adds a bunch of weight to the car, My brother's dune buggy with a standard transmission weighs less than 1000 lbs empty. thanks for the question

  • How much is the weight with driver at the startline ?
