axel & roxas: she's the one you want

Her mission was simple. Take down the former Organizations' Number Eight. Axel. The Flurry of Dancing Flames.

He had committed the worst crime an Organization member could; he betrayed them. When Roxas was thrown out for having an alive Other, Axel went after him like a puppy following a thrown bone. Roxas was the only reason he'd stayed in the Organization anyway. Their lives were what they could call perfect. They were still Nobodies, but they didn't need hearts to tell each other how they felt. But when Larxene found out about where they were hiding, everything went downhill.

She wasn't dumb enough to think that she could take down Axel on her own. No, she wasn't /that/ proud. Larxene knew she needed help, and she knew just who to turn to. Naminé was naïve and timid. She would do anything Number XII asked for. And Kairi, well. She was just very gullible. Together, the three of them would take Axel down, in the worst of ways. Before they could, however, they had to get close to him. In other words, they had to seduce Axel.

This, of course, lead to many problems.

Roxas was beginning to notice that Axel was spending a lot of time with Larxene, his former colleague. He never liked the girl that much, so seeing her with Axel made him more than a little uneasy. Axel seemed to have not a clue what was going on, and taking Larxene's kindness as a sign that the Organization weren't that upset about his decision to leave.

Yes, Axel wasn't exactly the brightest crayon in the box, stop sign red hair aside.

Naminé also began to charm Axel with her small, gentle smiles and her friendly disposition. She was nothing like Larxene; Axel could boss her around and tell her where to go and what to do. At some point, though, she couldn't take anymore. She'd rather get punished by Larxene than have to deal with Axel.

Axel was immediately intoxicated by Kairi. She was so inviting to him, so vibrant, so...fiery. It was easy to forget things like Larxene, Naminé, and even Roxas when he was with her. But with Kairi, he was very controlling, just like he was with Naminé. Kairi got fed up with it a lot sooner than Naminé and decided that nothing was worth all this.

Roxas watched all of this in the background, waiting. Waiting for that moment when Axel would turn to look at him and tell him that he was only joking. But that moment never came. Thus, Roxas began to doubt their relationship. It wasn't like he had something special that the three girls didn't. Larxene was strong and independent, Naminé was so kind and thoughtful, hell, Kairi actually HAD a heart. How could Axel ever choose him when he had so many other choices to pick from?

This continued for weeks, until Larxene decided they had Axel exactly where she wanted him. It was time to go in for the kill. During this time, Roxas had come to some revelations on his own.

Screw them.
Axel was HIS, dammit.

He wasn't going down without a fight, which was very ironic because while Roxas was coming to this conclusion, Axel was out battling for his life against three crazy women with a death wish. If only he had shown Roxas how much he cared for him /before/ all hell decided to break loose

Axel wasn't strong enough for this, he knew it. It had been so long since he had actually had to fight anything, and while against a sadistic mad woman with lightening, along with two other girls who could probably do very well in cat fights, he was just no match. He unleashed a rather exhausting attack and collapsed, gasping for breath.

And that was when Roxas decided to come be the hero of the day. He made quick work of Larxene, Naminé, and Kairi because Axel had worn them down considerably and his dual Keyblades were just awesome like that.

After the fight was over, Roxas calmly stared at an embarrassed Axel, waiting for an explanation.

"I love you, Roxas."

Roxas thought that's explanation enough.
